Description
The Military Miniiature Society of Illinois presents its 40th annual Chicago Show on Saturday, October 11, 2014. You are invited to view hundreds of miniature figures, vignettes, and dioramas, some of which are for sale, and to talk to the artists who created them. Many of these artists are from the Chicago area, but some of them travel from across the country and around the world for this one of a kind event.

The show and judged exhibition will be held at the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, 1800 E. Golf Road, Schaumburg, IL. The show is open to the public from 9:00AM to 4:00PM Saturday, October 11, 2014. General admission is $7.00 with free admission for children under 12.

The Chicago Show is one of the top-level exhibitions of painted miniature figures in the world, and it draws painters and model makers from Europe, Canada, and Mexico, as well as from across the United States. What you will see at the Chicago Show are not "toy soldiers" but many stunning examples of the broad and diverse art form of realisticly scuplted and painted miniatures figures. These miniatures range in size from under one inch to over 12 inches tall. The figures represent all historical periods from ancient to modern times, as well as science fiction and fantasy subjects. Knights in armor, the Civil War, WWII, the Napoleonic era as well as the Renaissance and Victorian periods and Tolkein's "Middle Earth" have all been represented in previous shows. The competition is at several levels from amature hobbiest to professional artist. The figures may be painted from commercially available kits, conversions, or original sculptures.

In addition to the exhibition itself, the 2014 Chicago Show also features:
* An auction of finely painted miniatures. Successful bidders will take home a wonderful piece of miniature art.
* Seminars, which are free and open to the public, on topics relavent to the art of creating miniature figures.
* An extensive vendor area featuring miniature figure kits, artist supplies, and military art and memorabilia from vendors from around the country.

Come to the Chicago Show. You are sure to be impressed, delighted, and inspired. Further information can be found on our website: mmsichicago.com.
