Jim Johnson chopped the top off a Revell 1/25 scale 1932 Ford three-window coupe and went with different wheels and tires than were provided in the kit. He sprayed the body with Tamiya primer and airbrushed Testors Root Beer lacquer over it.

On June 21-23, 2024, at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in Falcon Heights, the Minnesota Street Rod Association (MSRA) Back to the ’50s car show celebrated its 50th anniversary with nearly 11,000 registered 1/1 vehicles. Every year, the scale model contest is a highlight of the show, and it brought the fire again this year with a record 339 models and dioramas on display. The models competed for awards in 16 classes, plus a special Ed Roth pick from Ed’s son, Cody. The model quality was top shelf, with model builders from as far away as Texas and from across the border in Canada.
