Using pre-shading to determine the fall of directional lighting, Gary finished Hard Day, a 75mm vignette from In Motion Creations, with acrylics, inks, and artist oils. He added the tree and backdrop to give the emotive scene more context.

The scale creations on display at the Military Miniatures Society of Illinois show always amaze, and the 48th annual event held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21, 2023, was no exception. Hundreds of beautifully painted figures depicting ancient history and the modern era, along with fantasy and sci-fi subjects, were joined by sharply finished vehicles and creative dioramas at the Chicago Marriott in Schaumburg, Illinois.
