Toby’s Merkava Mk.3D represents several firsts, including his first armor model, first attempt at weathering, and first base. The talented car modeler added a Legend resin and photo-etched metal stowage set, D&N Models ball-and-chain turret skirt, Friulmodel metal tracks, and Echelon decals to the Meng 1/35 scale kit. The model is painted with Ammo by Mig Jimenez acrylics and weathered with Ammo washes and pigments.

More than 300 models graced the contest tables at the annual NordicCon show in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, in September 2022. Hosted by several Twin Cities model clubs, the event attracts builders from all over the upper Midwest. FSM editors Tim Kidwell and Aaron Skinner hit the road for the show and shot these photos of just some of the models on display.
