This AMT 1/25 scale ’32 Ford Victoria came to the show with Dave Huddle. Thinking the kit needed a few changes, he added a Revell ’32 Ford engine, fenders, and an induction from a Beretta pro street kit.
This ’48 Ford coupe was inspired by a real car that Bob Lorenz saw at a car show. He built it using a Revell kit, opened the door and trunk, tubbed the rear wheel wells, subbed in aluminum wheels, and carpeted the floors. Bob even gave the model working steering and wired the engine!
Though usually an aircraft modeler, Eric Larson also likes Formula One cars. He built this Ebbro 1/20 scale Lotus 72 mostly out of the box with the addition of fuel lines and ignition wires made of fine tubing and electrical wire along with a racing harness from a Tamiya kit.
Dave Johnson made this 1962 Oldsmobile Cutlass F-85 unique. Starting with a JoHan kit, he added a ’66 Chevy Nova chassis, suspension, floor, and wheels. The engine and parachute came from a Pro Stock Oldsmobile. He painted it with a custom mix of Testors colors. Dave detailed with wiring, fuel line, throttle cable, master cylinder line, seat belts, and Bare-Metal Foil.
Coming all the way from West Virginia, John Brolin brought his Tamiya 1/24 scale 1986 Spirit of America Porsche 956, but he didn’t stop there! He added Studio 27 machined aluminum wheels, a Scale Motorsports Porsche photo-etched metal set, Detail Master & Pro-Tech parts, and an Eduard 6-point racing harness. John also changed the interior cockpit configuration and opened the side vents.
Greg Taylor showed his love for old-school gassers by building a Galaxie Models 1/25 scale ’47 Chevy gasser. He added a Hemi Motors flip nose and cut the wheel wells out. The completed model wears a 1950s aquamarine paint job.
Dawn Helman entered the junior category because “Pappy builds models, and I wanted to build one, too.” She finished a Lindberg 1/25 scale ’48 Mercury box stock, which included police markings. We bet Dawn made Pappy proud with this one!
Jerry Keller collects Pontiacs, so, naturally, this resin 1/25 scale 1952 Pontiac Catalina called out to him. He built it box stock, painted it with an automotive base coat, and topped it with Testors clear enamel.
Pro Stock fan Mike “Raisin” Garrett brought his JoHan 1/25 scale Sandy Elliot Comet. He grafted in an engine bay from a Monogram Mustang, drilled out and replaced the kit’s chrome headlights with clear lenses, and wired and plumbed the 429 motor.
