Stowage from D-Day Miniature Studio and figures from Jaguar Models helped Thorsten Herbes model a well-known scene from the Battle of the Bulge with a Tamiya 1/35 scale Schwimmwagen. He painted with Vallejo acrylics and 502 Abteilung oil paints. Thorsten covered the foam base with Vantage Model Solutions textured pigments and a smattering of AK Interactive snow.

IPMS Lakes Region Scale Modelers hosted the 11th annual NimCon model contest and show in McHenry, Illinois June 24, 2023. Drawing modelers from Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan, the show saw more than 400 models on the contest tables and a packed vendor area, with support from Revell and Model Rectifier. A perennial favorite with the FSM crew both for model quality and the friendly atmosphere, the magazine attended this year’s NimCon and was not disappointed by the models on display. Here’s a selection of the ones that caught our eye.
