Steve arrived with his sleek AMT/Ertl 1/25 scale ‘39 Chevy wagon hot rod. He added spark plug wires, throttle cables, and injector lines to the engine and set the car riding on 3D-printed wheels. MCW Velvet Red Metallic and hand-painted and masked wood finished it off.

Modelers from Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, and beyond, made their way to Monona Terrace in Madison, Wis., on Saturday, March 7, 2026, for the Mad City scale model show. Organized by the Mad City Modelers and quickly becoming one of the preeminent shows in the Midwest, this year saw 685 models on the contest tables, plus the Tiger Meet and exhibit-only areas.
