WrightCon 2026, organized by the Wright Field Scale Modelers, took off once again at the Washington Township RecPlex in Dayton, Ohio, on Saturday, April 25, 2026. With medals awarded in the usual IPMS categories, WrightCon also presented 10 special awards, including Best Pre-1980 Tooling (Out of the Box), Best USAF, and Phinest Phantom. Of course, given a location so clost to the Wright Brothers Huffman Prairie Flying Field and the National Museum of the United States Air Force, no one was surprised at the number of aircraft on the contest tables. However, there were plenty of other models too, including cars, tanks, figures, and sci-fi. FineScale Modeler visited WrightCon and here are a few dozen models that caught our eye.

Red can be a finicky color to paint. To give the paint for Ken’s Alpha Models 1/20 scale 2023 Ferrari SF-23 race car, he sprayed it with pink Tamiya Fine Primer first. Then he airbrushed the out-of-the-box build with Zero Paints Mica Red and topped it with Mr. Super Clear UV Cut Clear.
