The Lancia-Ferrari D50 Formula 1 made its debut for the 1954 Formula 1 season. In 1956, Peter Collins won the Belgian Grand Prix driving a D50. For the 1957 campaign, the D50s were heavily modified to make Ferrari 801 cars. Largely unsuccessful, the 801s lasted for a single season. Bill Richter built a Revival 1/20 scale D50 kit and finished it as Collins’ winning chariot. And then, to show how much the car changed from one year to the next, he finished a Model Factory Hiro 1/20 scale 801 marked for No. 34 driven by Luigi Musso during the Pescara Grand Prix in 1957. Both were painted Tamiya Italian Red and have photo-etched metal wire wheels.
