November 2022 was the first annual celebration of Build a Model Month (BAMM), and FineScale Modeler got into the swing with the BAMM Online Model Contest. There were more than 3,700 photo entries, displaying over 700 models. Model builders from Ukraine to the U.S. to Japan participated, and there was no shortage of skill, talent, and imagination on display.
Several modeling clubs worked to help spread the word for both BAMM and the contest, including IPMS/USA, IPMS Toronto, Lakes Region Scale Modelers, Youth in Model Railroading, Model Geek’s Podcast, and Scale Model Podcast. In addition, Airfix, AK Interactive, Atlantis Models, Arma Hobby, ICM, Revell, and Tamiya all donated products for the associated BAMM Sweepstakes. Everyone who entered a model or voted for People’s Choice was automatically entered to win a prize package in the sweepstakes.
Judges Spencer Pollard, Rick Lawler, Jim Kampmann, Annya Shetinina, George Seletas, Toni Levine, and Kendra Bell joined FSM editors Aaron Skinner and Tim Kidwell to choose the contest winners.
