To prevent losing parts when they inevitably fall off my table, I place a plastic water-heater pan under my workbench. (These large pans fit under water heaters as a guard against leaks.) When a part goes AWOL, it lands in the pan and is easily found. These pans are available at hardware and home improvement stores.
