Recently one of my jet-fighter models, through a freakish encounter with my feline friend, ended up on the floor. I was able to reattach the external stores easily enough, but the pilot and seat got knocked loose inside the closed cockpit. Thanks to an alignment issue, I had to seal the canopy to the model with putty. So, rather than going through a tedious canopy-removal process, I cut open the fuselage directly under the cockpit. I was able to retrieve the cockpit, reinstall the pilot and seat, and replace the whole assembly. A little creative putty and paint returned the model to (hopefully) competition status. And no damage to the canopy!
