Once in a while I need to clamp together parts that are irregularly or oddly shaped.

I use Evergreen styrene tubing and tape or rubber bands as a clamp. I put the tubing on either side of the parts I want to clamp, then wrap tape or rubber bands around the styrene. Rubber bands work OK, but tape makes it easier to adjust tension. Plus, you can protect fragile or painted surfaces.
