While building models, I occasionally break the plastic parts. But I’ve found a great way to repair them using short pieces of steel guitar string as reinforcement. I use.010″, .013″, .017″, .026″, .036″, and .046″ strings on my electric guitar, so I know exactly which bit to use. I drill holes in each section of the broken part, then glue a short piece of string inside the holes.

Also, the heaviest strings have wire wrapped tightly around a core. These strings can be used for tubing, etc. They’re also cheap — a $5 set of strings will last you a long time.
