While working on a long-term project, I develop “nearsightedness” – I can’t see the flaws anymore because I’m too close to the subject. To overcome this, I use a pocket mirror to look at the model. It’s two-dimensional, and many of the problems I might have missed become plainly visible. I use this “effect” all the time, and it has helped me spot some embarrassing flaws before others see them.
