To reduce decal silvering, I always rub down flat paint on military aircraft with toothpaste and a soft cloth before I clear coat the model. The toothpaste is minimally abrasive – just enough to smooth the paint without removing the color. This smoother surface allows decals to lay flat, eliminating silvering.
