I use a styrene-foam cutter to remove clear plastic from sprue.

Containing an electrically heated wire, this tool is designed for shaping styrene foam. But it works great on cutting plastic parts from sprue. It works especially well on clear parts, which can be easily chipped with a sprue cutter. With a steady hand, it’s easy to get a nice, clean cut that doesn’t need a lot of cleanup along the edge of the part.
