Car modelers like me, who have children in the house and have switched to acrylic paint for safety’s sake, have difficulty getting acrylics to polish to a shine. I’ve had the same problem with Pledge Future floor polish. After some trial and error, I’ve developed a method that works pretty well. I start with a polishing kit, but only sand up to 8,000 grit. Then, I use Turtle Wax Polishing Compound to smooth out the surface a little more. Finally, I apply Turtle Wax Color Back: There is something in the Color Back that reacts with the acrylic paint and shines it up almost to the sheen of a finely polished lacquer.
