When painting, it is always best to mix the paint thoroughly — getting the pigment suspended can take lots of shaking. As a matter of course, I drop a few BBs into a paint bottle when I first open it to help agitate. Even better, if I know that I will be painting later in the day, I keep the paint containers in my pocket; a full day of walking stirs everything up.
