Many 1/35 scale figures come with separate solid-molded goggles. To make them more realistic, I drill out the lens portion before attaching them to the figure. Once they are glued on and painting is completed, apply a drop of clear-part glue to replicate the lens. It dries clear and lets you see your paint work underneath.
