Replacing cowling fasteners, rivets, and other tiny circles lost during sanding can be difficult. But I’ve found a way to replace those tiny circles with a minimum of fuss.
I got an assortment of different-sized hypodermic needles from a veterinarian friend. Using a cutting wheel on my motor tool, I cut them off square. Then I smoothed the inside edge of the tube with a small needle file and beveled the outside edges with a file to make sharp circle-shaped punches. To replace a missing detail, I apply a little pressure and the needle on the plastic.
