Building airliners, I’ve found that simply attaching antennas with super glue never lasts long. What does work is anchoring them. I fashion ADF antennas from thick sheet styrene, sanding to give them their elliptical shape. However, rather than just gluing them to the top of the fuselage, I drill a small hole in the underside of the antenna with a pin vise and insert a thin piece of stretched sprue. After checking many photographs, I calculate the antenna’s location and drill a hole of the same diameter as before to accept the stretched-sprue “stem.” Then, when I’m ready to install the antenna permanently, all I need to do is apply a little glue to the stem and slide it into its locating hole. It’s a lot of extra work, but that antenna will remain in place for a really long time.
