When the Hong Kong Military Modelling Society was established in 1972, most of the members were from the British forces whose main interest focuses on military subjects. Throughout that time, the society had changed dramatically, so did the types of models built and the taste of modellers.
As of 1996, the objective of the society was expanded from military models to all kinds of scale modelling. In order to accomplish this new objective, the name of the Hong Kong Military Modelling Society has been changed to :- THE HONG KONG SOCIETY OF SCALE MODELLING.
