From the publisher: Eight articles provide tips and techniques for modeling miniature figures, busts, and vignettes from ancient times to World War II, illustrated with step-by-step photos and explanatory texts.
In an eight-page feature with lots of step-by-step photos, Toshihiro Sano, one of our regular Japanese contributors, presents a guide to painting The Red Baron, a 200mm bust from Alexandros Models, with Tamiya enamels. Following The Red Baron is a detailed, six-page article from Sergey Popovichenko showing how he painted Pegaso Models’ 54mm Roman Legionary, AD 1st century, in artist’s oil colors.
Gunther Sternberg, a well-known miniaturist from Germany, painted Tommy’s War box art for many years. He demonstrates how he used Vallejo acrylics on an Evolution Miniatures 1/35 scale, two-figure vignette with British 8th Army figures in North Africa, 1941-43. Also painting with Vallejo acrylics is Juanma Vergara, who reveals how he painted “Flankenfeuer Le Bourget 1870,” a 120mm bust from Heroes & Villains Miniatures.
Qianwei Shi presents his painting sequence for Young Miniatures’ “Hell on Wheels,” 2nd U.S. Armored, WWII, a 180mm bust of an American tank commander as portrayed by Brad Pitt in the movie Fury.” Ernesto Reyes Stalhuth strikes back with his impressive painting style on Pegaso Models’ 75mm Francois L. Olonnais, 1634-1671, using Vallejo acrylics in a 10-page article. Jason Zhou returns with a colorful fantasy theme depicting a 200mm Dwarf Veteran bust by Raccoon Miniatures, explaining his approach when using different acrylics colors and painting realistic facial features with a full beard.
Juanma Vergara closes the volume with a WWII SS Panzer crewman from Evolution Miniatures as he relates how to paint black-and-white clothing on 1/35 scale figures with acrylics from Vallejo’s Various series.
FSM says: What they said: Excellent features on painting figures’ faces and clothing, step by step.
