If you need to make multiple wire shapes that all need to be the same size and shape, here’s an easy way to make a jig that works great for pipes on the sides of rocket nozzles or grab handles on military vehicles.
Using a pair of grooved needle-nosed pliers, find the groove that matches the length of wire you need. Allow for the bends at each end. Mark the groove with a piece of tape so you can find it each time.
Place a straight pin (or wire) in the groove and close the pliers. With your fingers (or another pair of pliers), bend the ends to create the shape you need.
Drill the holes, cut the pin or wire to the correct length, and super glue it in place. I prefer using pins because they hold their shape better. The before and after samples (right) are from the Moebius Moonbus kit.
