Bob Naing
San Francisco, California
Bob built the Amoeba kit from Atlantis Models out of the box and painted it with Krylon Stained Glass spray paints for the translucent blue and orange. Then he added heavy acrylic washes with Tamiya Gloss Black to pop the details. The base was spray-painted Dutch Boy Chrome to give it a stainless-steel look.
James Martin
Chillicothe, Illinois
James built this Trumpeter 1/48 scale F-106A and added aftermarket details like a resin F4 pilot figure modified to fit the cockpit and a drag chute from 3D Chute Expert. He finished the model with Mr. Color acrylics and Model Master enamels. James’ first attempt at an air base runway depicts an F-106A of the 94th FIS touching down at Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan, following its return from the Korean deployment in 1970.
Steve Wright
Sheffield, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Steve’s Meng 1/9 scale Kawasaki H2R Ninja wears Tamiya and AK Xtreme Metal paints that he has worked to look like a real bike. He used his garage wall and trash bins as a backdrop for a natural setting. “The kit goes together really easily,” Steve said. “The carbon-fiber decals come with the kit but [need] care … when applying them to the model.”
James De Pietro
Deptford, New Jersey
James called the AMT 1/72 scale Star Wars: The Mandalorian Razor Crest “a fantastic build.” He made it for his grandson, Leo, a big Din Djarin fan.
Rick Schad
Warwick, Rhode Island
Rick’s 27th build of the year is this Tamiya 1/32 scale A6M2b Zeke. The build took him over 100 hours to finish, most of which was spent on painting and weathering. “My client is thrilled, which makes it all worth it!” Rick said.
