Nick’s ’66 Ford Fairlane Pro Mod started life as an AMT 1/25 scale kit. He posed the doors open, scratchbuilt the chassis and roll cage, wired the interior and motor, and added aftermarket decals. As for the details, Nick says he added “too many to list.”

“The whole rat-rod movement” inspired Paul to kitbash this 1/25 scale hustler. He added a crankshaft shifter, piston rod, cupholders, license plate, patch panels, and weathered the vehicle.

Scott built his ’29 Ford hot rod from an AMT 1/25 scale kit. He added plug wires and a fuel line and painted it white and custom-mixed pink.
Dale Bartley

This Revell 1/25 scale 1931 Ford rat rod took Dale over a year to build, and we can see why! He added many modifications, including photo-etched bomber seats with seatbelts, hinged doors and trunk, and aluminum wheels with sprint car tires. He also modified the car with fuel, electrical, and brake lines, axle tubes, and weathering!

Jake built his 1/25 scale ’29 Ford roadster from a Revell kit, wired the engine, masked, and painted the whitewall tires. He added a rubber band for the fan belt and followed Tim Boyd’s FSM article to lower the front end! He finished off the model with Tamiya paint and clear.

Glenn took inspiration from this year’s Stark Scale Modelers Club show theme for his Revell-Monogram 1/25 scale 1955 Chevy Bel Air convertible Indianapolis Pace Car. He built it box-stock, painted Tamiya Italian Red and Pure White under clear, added Bare-Metal Foil and LCP chrome trim, and marked it with the decals from the kit.

Ryan added machined parts to his Revell 1/25 scale 1969 Camaro Pro Touring, including the intake, master cylinder, outer rim, and valve covers. He finished it with Tamiya paints.

Don took an old pepper shaker kit of AMT’s 1/25 scale 1957 Chevy and gave it new life. He lifted parts from a Nova kit for the tub and chassis and to shorten the dash. Don moved the wheels forward, spruced up the visuals with Detail Master parts, detailed with Best Model Car Parts decals, and finished with House of Kolor paint.

Gene loves historic Indy cars, so he built the MPC 1/25 scale ’63 Willard Battery Special. He added plug wires and painted it Tamiya Pearl White and True Blue with Testors Extreme Lacquer Clear.

Mike Beckwith
New Richmond, Ohio
Mike, 83, built his high-school dream car from a Revell 1/24 scale 1948 Ford convertible. He put a twist on the car with a custom front clip and 1954 Chevy taillights. Mike also replaced the kit’s door handles and wired and plumbed the engine. He painted with a dark blue base coat under clear.
Phil Donaldson Jr.
Columbus, Ohio
Opting for a street rod with a vintage look, Phil built an AMT 1/25 scale 1925 Ford Model T street rod. Though mostly box stock, he did add plug wires, fuzzy dice, a fuel tank, and lines. He finished it off with Testors Transparent Green over a silver base.
Joseph Wright

Joseph lowered the suspension on a Revell 1/25 scale 1948 Ford coupe, tailored tuck ‘n’ roll upholstery inside, swapped in a Mercedes steering wheel, installed lake pipes, and upgraded with spotlights, an antenna, a mirror, and pinstripe decals on the fenders. He draped it all with Testors Ruby Red over black.
J.R. Roberts

J.R. built an MPC 1/24 scale kit of “Ohio” George Montgomery’s Malco Mustang gasser. He detailed the engine and added wiring, plumbing, hoses, and a custom parachute. J.R. also detailed the interior and custom-mixed the paint to match the original car.

Tom wanted to do something different, and that led him to this Revell-Monogram 1/25 scale ’71 Cuda. He wired and detailed the engine and painted it with this one-of-a-kind custom scheme.

Jeremy built his AMT 1/25 scale 1971 Plymouth Duster out-of-the-box, added fuzzy dice, and a No. 13 pool ball shifter, and wired and plumbed the engine. That sweet paint job is Testors One Coat Lacquer Purple Licious.
Gerald Haney

Gerald modified and detailed the heck out of his AMT 1/25 scale ’73 Ford F-100! He shortened and raised the bed, opened the doors and added magnets to hold them closed, introduced bucket seats modified from an ’88 Dodge Daytona kit, and much more. He used ScaleFinishes Dark Blue Metallic and automotive clear to complete the model.

Jesse turned his Revell 1/25 scale Chevy Camaro into the “Crusher Camaro” using aftermarket parts, like a custom replica license plate. He ran fuel lines, picked out the chrome with Bare-Metal Foil, and scratchbuilt a scoop. The axles, carbs, and wheels are all aftermarket parts. Jesse picked a supercharger, engine, and tires from his parts box and painted the model Tamiya Yellow under clear.
