Rick Shepard’s sweet candy red ’32 Ford Roadster took six weeks to finish. He bobbed the rear fenders, installed motorcycle fenders up front, and tucked the wheels and tires from a Monogram Li’l Coffin underneath. He detailed the engine with fuel links, plug wires, and a distributor from Morgan Automotive Detail.
Normally, Frank LuQue wouldn’t build a Revell 1/25 scale Ford Model A coupe, but he went out of his comfort zone and had a blast building it. He painted with Vallejo colors, wired the engine, and scratchbuilt the injectors on top. “I enjoyed the kit so much I bought five more!” Frank says.
After five months, a new roof, and a reworked tailgate and front end, Rich Spelder turned an AMT 1/25 scale 1959 El Camino into a Chevy 3-door wagon. Inspired by books and 1950s cars, Rich was happy to complete this build and set it atop aftermarket wheels.
Inspired by his father, 10-year-old Chad Allen entered his box-stock Revell 1933 Ford three-window coupe. It took him two weeks to complete, and he painted with paint direct from the spray can. Superb job, Chad!
Shannon Petitt’s custom rod has us green with envy! He scratchbuilt the frame, brought in an engine from a Lincoln kit, and used various parts lying around his desk that “looked good together.” He painted his green machine Testors Lime Ice and Krylon Ivory.
“Go, Pack, Go!” Big Green Bay Packer fan David Vranak mixed his love of football with his love of scale modeling to build a Monogram 1/24 scale Ford F-150 Flareside. He dressed the pickup for the big game in green and gold with Rust-Oleum spray paint and rounded out the scheme with Packer stickers.
Here we see David Edwards’ super-clean build of an MPC 1/24 scale MPC Sox & Martin ’70 Duster Pro Stock driven by Ronnie Martin. Automotive paint colors the exterior, and he added plug wires, seat belts, and fuel lines for added realism.
Inspired by pro street cars, Thomas Rotunda transformed an AMT 1/25 scale ’63 ‘Vette into a quarter-mile missile. He added wide pro-street tires in the back, wired the engine, and provided a custom frame for it all to sit on.
Rick Allen scratchbuilt this Late Model dirt-track race car in just two weekends! He fashioned the body from sheet metal, built the frame to have posable steering, and mudded it all up as if it’s been churning dirt at the oval.
Pieced together over six months, Larry Schoonover’s fuel-altered drag car was assembled totally out of his spare-parts box. “It’s not a true car,” Larry says, “but it’s what I see.” The red, white, and blue are lacquers sprayed from the can.
Race cars from the ‘70s get Larry Breeze’s heart pumping. He took that excitement and put it into building Donald “Dutch” Hoag’s No. 7 Modified Genesee Beer coupe. He spent 30 hours finishing the model and wiring the engine using a Model King kit.
Will Kirchmeyer wanted a junkyard truck. He started with a Lindberg 1/25 scale 1934 Ford pickup, painted with Vallejo acrylic, and used the hairspray method to chip the paint. AK Interactive rust effects finished the job.
