Mike Fenton built the Italeri 1/12 scale 1929 Bugatti Type 35B and painted it Tamiya Blue from a rattle can. He added details on the engine and interior for a little extra. Mike shared that Bugatti produced 37 of these cars between 1929 and 1930.
John Ruiz scratchbuilt a chassis for his AMT 1/25 scale ’66 Chevy Nova drag car. He also added a four-link suspension, roll cage, and plumbing and wiring. John primed, painted with Zero Paints Pagani Red lacquer, and shined the finish with a clear coat.
“El Chicano” was born from an AMT 1/25 scale 1957 Chevy gasser kit. Mario “Shadow” Mendiola started with a House of Kolor black base coat, painted silver under the patterned areas, and then went ahead with HoK Kandy Grape and Gold flip-flop colors for the fish scales and lace.
Jerry Dean built his MPC 1/25 scale Mack DM800 semi tractor out of the box and weathered it for an abandoned appearance. He base-coated it flat yellow and followed with hairspray. Then he sprayed several shades of flat red for faded paint. Jerry weathered with chipping and oil paints.
This Revell 1/25 scale 1941 Willys with added fuel lines, plug wires, linkage, aluminum pulleys, and Bare-Metal Foil trim is the work of Bob Molenhour. He painted it with Tamiya White Primer and Tamiya Yellow from rattle cans and gave it a final polish and wet sanding.
Joe Chernauskas’ Fujimi 1/24 scale Police Interceptor depicts a police car as it might be in the Mad Max universe. He painted it Rust-Oleum Blue from a spray can and weathered it with AK Interactive weathering pencils and Tamiya weathering powders.
Wes Salazar made his first traditional-style gasser with a Moebius Models 1/25 scale 1965 Chevy II gasser. He machined lower pulleys, added a separate lower belt, and then painted a silver base under Splash Paints Kandy Blue and Urethane Clear.

Jason Gette used a 1932 chassis on his Revell 1/25 scale 1929 Ford pickup. He primed before painting his pickup enamel yellow and 2K clear. He was inspired to make the model from a Tim Boyd story in a 1998 issue of Scale Auto magazine.
Paul Erhart’s AMT 1/25 scale 1940 Ford sedan has a modified chassis with a four-link and independent front suspension. The engine is a 5-liter Coyote from a 2012 Mustang, and the car rolls on Pegasus wheels. After Tamiya primer and base coat, Paul painted with nail polish and topped it off with Tamiya Clear.
What a unique build from Rick Doering! This 1/24 VW Fender Go-Cart combines a 3D-printed chassis, a flat-four engine, and a Beetle fender scooter kit. He painted his go-cart Solar Color Dust in Chameleon Flake and topped it with urethane clear. Rick calls it a “very overpowered death trap of fun,” and we can’t disagree!
This beat-up, pumpkin-patch truck sputtered in with Mark McCullough. He used a Revell 1/25 scale 1966 Chevrolet Fleetside detailed with Morgan Automotive Detail wired distributor. He wired and plumbed the engine, made leaves with a punch, and loaded the back with craft-store pumpkins and hay bales. Mark lowered the pickup’s stance, added rust holes, and painted with Testors Flat Black. He added the rust effect using salt and black and brown acrylic washes. Even the windshield is dirty, made by masking wiper streaks.
This AMT 1/25 scale GMC Jimmy “Jimbo” hitched a ride with Dan Timon. He added a scratchbuilt frame and interior, bagged suspension, 3D-printed LS motor, and aftermarket decals, and shaved the bumper and tailgate that were molded as a single part. The rich purple finish is Dupli-Color Metalcast Purple over Bondo and primer.
William Bower-Leet built a NuNu/Beemax 1/24 scale Mitsubishi Lancer rally car. He liked the Mr. Hobby Gray Primer so much that he didn’t put another color over it and went straight to a clear coat. The vintage Michelin decals William used barely made it on the model due to cracking. He weathered with several different colors and Vallejo Mud Effects. Very cool!
Jason Eastman started with an MPC 1/25 scale 1957 “Spirit of 57” Chevy gasser and went in a different direction. He replaced the kit wheels and tires with aftermarket resin ones, painted Tamiya Gold over gray primer, and applied flame decals. Two coats of Dupli-Color 1K clear got the gloss he wanted.
James Simons used Testors Root Beer from a rattle can on his AMT 1/25 scale 1967 Mercury Cougar. He also reworked the engine compartment, removed the shock towers, and replaced the engine with 3D-printed Boss 429. He also worked up an independent front suspension and installed a Fab Resin IFS front suspension, and FAB Resinworks four-link rear suspension.
