Ever have a hard time assembling a cockpit seat? Most times they come in three or four pieces. I got tired of having the pieces fly across the room from my tweezers and clips. Try Silly Putty. Just push the pieces into the Silly Putty in the correct orientation and glue. I imagine this technique could be used for a variety of small-parts assembly situations.
