Chris Amos
Ogmore Vale, Bridgend, Wales
Chris added an Eduard photo-etched metal cockpit to the Revell 1/48 scale Eurofighter Typhoon. He used Model Maker Spanish Tiger Meet decal sheet and Vallejo paints to finish the model. To solve a few fit issues around the air intakes, Chris used plastic card to fill the gaps, and lightly sanded to solve fit issues on the wings.
Joseph Schaeffer
Shippensburg, Pennsylvania
Joseph built a Bandai 1/72 scale Star Wars: Return of the Jedi B-Wing Fighter. He lightly weathered the Rebel assault fighter and paid special attention to cockpit details under the canopy. It looks great!
Michael Epstein
Prairie Village, Kansas
Michael built a Lead Warrior 1/35 scale VW Sondertype Type 129. The kit was missing windscreens, so he made his own from two corner windows from a 1962 VW Type 1 bus. He used lead foil for the straps on the rockets and added a little mud and dirt for weathering.
Michael Rust
Glendale, Arizona
Michael modified the frame and body panels of the Lindberg 1/8 scale Exterminator Dragster kit as a tribute to the 1960s Mooneyes Dragster.
Mike Walston
Bradenton, Florida
Mike battle-damaged his Wave 1/24 scale Ghost in the Shell Tachikoma by adding solder splats, blasting open one of the camera balls, and knocking off the top maintenance hatch, and then detailed with parts from his spares. He used fiber optics for the tow lines and a paperclip for the robotic arm extension. Michael cut open the hatch to the passenger module and added an interior. He made a base for it that included a building and Major Kusanagi watching form the street below.
Tom Dougherty
Ayer, Massachusets
Tom’s Iron Shipwrights 1/350 scale USS Sailfish, made from a resin hull and 3D-printed pieces, depicts the diesel-electric after conversion to an attack submarine. He painted it using a Paasche VL double-action airbrush and Badger marine acrylics.
