Tedious modeling work, such as assembling track links, can be done away from the workbench. My current portable workbench shows several improvements over the original I built 10 years ago. It features a self-healing cutting surface attached with double-stick tape and illuminated by a detachable USB-powered work lamp. Plans and reference photos are held by magnetic clips on a stainless-steel strip at the top. The memory foam underneath is comfortable yet firm, and provides a solid workspace.
